My style is an eclectic fusion of contemporary pointillism.
The intention of my art is to look beyond the obvious. My artworks are examinations and reflections of historical events, bringing them into a modern context where viewers can appreciate them and construct their own interpretations. Through my work, I celebrate life and produce social commentary about my community, surroundings, and contemporary times.
Storytelling is essential to my art practice. This is reflected in my artworks about mining in Namaqualand, landscapes, and indigenous references. As a painter who mainly works in a studio space, I rely on my camera to bring home memories of my people and surroundings. The use of pointillism and orbs in some of my works is inspired by Aboriginal art, as well as the orbicular rock formations found on the outskirts of my hometown, Concordia, in the Northern Cape.
