I make other-worldly hybrid assemblages that balance precariously between holding together and falling apart.
I create multi-layered installations which immerse viewers in opaque fantasy-like worlds. Sound, video projection, light, and the movement of people activate the exhibition space. I layer moments of interconnection between material and transform social and personal metaphors into free-form, woven, painted, dimensional constellated forms, which I call eXe or embodied entanglements. eXe are ephemeral, refusing solid reified form, yet are grounded in physical materialities and the rhythmic gestures of my artist-woman body. Through practices that disrupt, make and unmake, learn and unlearn, arrange, and rearrange, mine is an ongoing process of unraveling order followed by attempts to make sense of disorder. My installations bestow a performative power on viewers, establishing an embodied relationship by enticing them to touch, engage, and experience eXe. In this place of alchemy, things and ideas are a performance. Past creative activities are brought into the present and felt viscerally as they remain active in my forms.
