I work in a very multi-disciplinary manner that is critical, playful, and heartfelt.
As an artist and filmmaker, my work has always had a transdisciplinary approach to its making and output. I work fluidly between film, abstract animation, sound, installation, performance, creative writing (stories, screenplays, and poetry), textiles, and painting. I love the potential for collaboration between the arts and sciences, both in terms of disseminating knowledge beyond institutional structures, and the possibility of finding fresh perspectives on current challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked on projects that touch on the sciences. I have created visuals and soundscapes to accompany live talks on quantum physics and astronomy, as well as live art performances that reflect on indigenous knowledge systems. I have also worked on social issue short films and documentaries concerning human trafficking, gender-based violence, and policy; and the challenges black and brown women face in the South African corporate and entrepreneurial space. My portfolio includes public art performances centred on issues of race, class, and gender at the heart of gentrification. In my personal sketchbooks, I often reflect on the natural and built environment, documenting what I come across with my beloved sketch pen.
